From Mission to Action

1 Bringing Community Pediatrics to Israel

How we do it

  • Trailblazing an annual course for pediatricians to help them acquire the skills to diagnose and address children’s developmental, behavioral and psychosocial issues
  • Training pediatricians to play a critical role in integrated child and family services in the community
  • Incorporating community pediatrics content into the curriculum of pediatric residents training
  • Building professional capacity in children’s services in under resourced and low-income communities.
  • Creating easy-to-access professional materials on topics such as sleep issues, bedwetting, motor skills, excessive crying, speech problems, breastfeeding and nutrition.
1 Information Access for Parents

How we do it

  • Promoting Goshen’s comprehensive website for parents – an evidence-based, reliable source of information in Hebrew and Arabic, on child health, development and behavior
  • Creating social media platforms for information and interactive dialogue – Facebook, e-newsletter
  • Strengthening the capacity of Tipat Halav Parent and Child Health Center professionals to support parents and provide information about community-based child development and behavior services.
1 Advancing Change in Public Policy

How we do it

  • Advocating with the Health Ministry and other government departments to develop innovative and coordinated service models in early childhood healthcare, development and wellbeing
  • Working with Israel’s health medical organizations (HMOs) to allocate more consultation time for pediatricians and general practitioners to properly assess and manage developmental, behavioral and psychosocial issues
  • Working with the third-sector to create an integrated community approach for children and their families.
  • Leading efforts to develop ongoing national and local data collection methods to inform policies and provide an essential base for evaluating intervention programs.
