From Mission to Action

1 Bringing Community Pediatrics to Israel

This is how we do it

  • Establishing a groundbreaking annual course for pediatricians and family doctors, run by various speakers from the fields of medicine and welfare, allowing the participants to acquire diagnostic and treatment skills in the fields of child behavioral-development.
  • Creating online and face-to-face professional lectures, training sessions and workshops, regarding a variety of developmental and behavioral topics, for example: sleep difficulties, child development, bed wetting and potty training, enuresis and encopresis, adolescent medicine, victims of child abuse and neglect, and more. The content is provided to professionals at clinics, hospitals and healthcare and welfare organizations in Israel.
  • Heading the partnership between the Ministry of Health, the Van Leer Foundation and the Yad HaNadiv Foundation, which is responsible for assimilating the BPB model – a unique and designated professional development model for Tipat Halav nurses, that’s goal is to introduce new content and programs to increase the support the nurses provide the parents with, leading to a more healthy development of the children in their first years of life.
  • Integrating child development and pediatrics in the community in the pediatrics residents’ study program.
  • Developing professional information materials for professionals to use with parents and other factors in the community.
1 Information Access for Parents

This is how we do it

  • Running comprehensive websites for parents, including an ever growing database of research-based information, written and reviewed by, among others, healthcare, education and welfare professionals in Israel. The Goshen ‘Oh How You’ve Grown!’ information portal, is available in both Hebrew and Arabic, and the ‘Time to Grow!’ information portal was created and fitted especially for the ultra-orthodox community. The websites include hundreds of articles regarding development, parenting, behavior, playing and learning, sleep, nutrition and more.
  • Activity on social media, for example: Facebook pages in Hebrew and Arabic, Instagram, YouTube, and sending out a newsletter via email to distribute knowledge and manage and interactive dialogue.
  • Creating a series of videos providing support to parents and promoting the optimal development of children.
1 Advancing Change in Public Policy

This is how we do it

  • Working opposite the Ministry of Health and other government bodies to develop innovative and fitted service models in the fields of early childhood care, development and welfare.
  • Working alongside HMOs and health and welfare organizations in Israel to allocate time to pediatricians and family doctors, to properly asses and treat various topics regarding child development and behavior.
  • Working together with civic and public sectors to create a communal and integrative approach towards children and their families.
